Both the B&B suite and the Self Catering Studio Apartment are in the same building which once was – yes, a village Post Office! There is a separate entrance for the Studio Apartment. Albaston is a quiet village in the Tamar Valley, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Gunnislake station is 10 mins walk with regular 1 – 2 carriage trains to Plymouth. There is also a bus top close by which will take you to Callington or Tavistock. Dartmoor, Calstock and the entire Valley are superb for secluded walks with excellent views. Boat trips from Calstock to Cotehele are a regular feature in the summer months.
The house, in the centre of the village, was built in about 1830 of local stone with 22" thick walls - none of which are remotely straight even after recent extensive modernisation and major renovations!
The B & B accommodation consists of a self contained suite of 3 rooms all newly furnished and freshly decorated with oak flooring throughout. Tea and Coffee making facilities, small fridge, colour TV, a day bed and 2 comfy chairs in the sitting room. Double power shower and wash hand basin, Ample wardrobe space and a king sized bed in the double aspect bedroom. A reduction of £8 per person is given for people who wish to eat breakfast with their friends in the Studio Flat.
The ‘Once a Post Office’ studio is on the ground floor with large double glazed windows and own entrance. The studio faces South with and has an outlook onto the village with the hills beyond. The kitchen is well equipped for 4 people thus accommodating those people in the B&B suite who wish to holiday together but remain separate at times. Large fridge freezer, 37” flat screen colour TV. Table and chairs for 4. Power shower and vanitory unit in the en-suite shower room.
Breakfast in the Conservatory for B&B guests gives you the opportunity to enjoy the morning sun. Home baked bread, local free range eggs, local bacon and sausages, home made jams and marmalades and a luxury mix of muesli is just part of the extensive choice of breakfasts cooked to order.
